Once There Was an Expedition

Once there was an expedition,
Led by Joseph Robert Tiffon.
He travelled far through wicked lands,
Crossed great deserts of shifting sands.
But when at last he reached the sea,
He made a great discovery.
He found a creature, ere unknown,
That often tried to kill its own!
The Beast, though bright, had no remorse,
And brutal was its martial force.
Its habitat had been destroyed,
Yet it was not a bit annoyed,
It bulldozed on through rain and shine,
‘Til all the water left was brine,
While black sludge flowed across the ground,
The beast, for once, made not a sound.
For morals Tiffon looked in vain,
But none were found, in Beast profane,
The expedition fled in fright,
‘It’s not in mind when not in sight!’
But visions of the Beast still pass
When they peer in the looking glass.

A Classical Education

Once there lived a girl called Scylla,
Who in a flash became a killer!
She fell in love with Minos fair,
And stole her father’s magic hair.

Without this lock her father died,
But cruel Scylla, no tears she cried!
With the security of the realm,
Minos moved to overwhelm.

But Minos by this was not pleased,
And back to Crete at once he flees,
Scylla dives in and starts to follow,
But what’s this! She’s become a swallow!

No happy ending has this story,
For her father, in all his glory,
As an eagle chased her far,
And forever now above they spar.

It is a core belief of mine that the million or so people who have voted for the BNP did so not because they are racists who wish to see all non-white British people repatriated, but merely because they agree that immigration rules need to be changed and are not aware of the BNP’s extreme xenophobia. If Griffin’s true thoughts were known to all,  I sincerely hope that his support would greatly decrease. Surely, for example, his voters do not agree with this: ‘I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated or turned into lamp shades. Orthodox opinion also once held that the earth is flat … I have reached the conclusion that the ‘extermination’ tale is a mixture of Allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie and latter witch-hysteria.’

If indeed the BNP’s support stems from a lack of proper understanding of them by the electorate, then only through debate such as on Question Time can we rectify this.

The best part of the story, in my opinion, is that Griffin will be on the panel with Muslim Conservative Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Shadow Community Cohesion Minister. It will be incredibly interesting to see how Griffin handles the question of whether she is less English than him, as she is a peer of the realm, whereas he is a convicted criminal, and both of her grandfathers fought for Britain during the Second World War.  The deputy leader of the BNP, Simon Darby, said of Warsi: ‘[she is] probably towards the bottom of the list of people who could and indeed should be deciding who is and is not British’ and went on to refer to the British-born peer as a ‘malleable Pakistani’.

Warsi is the only female Muslim Conservative frontbencher, and is therefore a good choice to contrast with the Islamophobic, male-dominated world of the BNP. We must also applaud her for sharing a stage with a man who said of her religion: ‘This wicked, vicious faith has expanded from a handful of cranky lunatics about 1,300 years ago, to it’s now sweeping country after country before it, all over the world.’ Let the fireworks begin!

If peerage is the antithesis of the Labour Party, then one beings to question Peter Mandelson’s affiliation with the motley bunch that call themselves our Government:

‘Baron Mandelson of Foy in the county of Herefordshire and Hartlepool in the county of Durham, Lord President of the Council, First Secretary of State, and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.’

Yes, that is a 34-word title for a Labour politician. Now let Labour paint the Tories as out of touch with the people!

Quite aside from the recession, it’s disgusting for us to be killing innocent Iraqis in our search for terrorists in the Middle East, while we pay off murderers’ families back home!

Also, the Government wants to extradite a harmless UFO-chasing hacker with Asperger’s, who might face 70 years behind bars in the good ol’ US of A, all for trying to fing the little green men. That’s what you call double standards.
